Yoga with a wonderful sense of freedom, more liberating than mat based yoga. Relief from aching, stiff backs. Free from fear of crashing out of arm balances and inversions. Liberated from overstretching in vigorous mat yoga classes. No worry of not being able to keep up. Basics / beginners level class – inclusive and fun for all.
The Yoga Trapeze is an easy to use and fun yoga prop. A central sling and side straps, it is made of soft parachute type ‘silk’ material and is comfortable and simple. It differs from the Aerial Yoga hammock which is a stretchy single sling. We walk you through the poses so you feel ready and not pushed if you don’t want to be.
Yoga Trapeze Basics is a specially created fusion class of many yoga styles – Slow Flow, Yin, Aerial Yoga and is suitable for all. This beginners level class will take us through simple jumps, squats, bends, stretches and twists through to arm balances and inversions, all the while supported and safe. Having fun too!
We go at the group pace, poses are clearly explained and with options for all fitness levels. The small group size ensures close attention as needed. The class is an hour and incorporates mindfulness, breath-work, warm up, full body work out for all levels, finishing with Shavasana relaxation, cocooned in the sling.
Wear yoga or gym kit and a supportive bra for the girls – there’s nothing like being upside down to make it all fall out! Bring water and a blanket for relaxation if you like. Mats and props are provided but if you love your own mat, feel free to bring it along. Layered clothes including a T-shirt with short sleeves are best.
Book up on the Matspace website – any questions before you come, please contact the studio. Aerial Yoga Trapeze is designed for all, however some conditions to check with your doctor beforehand are pregnancy, glaucoma and hypertension or low blood pressure. You can talk through any injuries before class.
